BIOGRAPHY Deb Arkoosh was born in A deep love of the interplay of color, shadow and light in textile work gave way to experimentation in digital photography. Her photography is said to achieve a depth of dimension and a delicacy of expression unusual in digital art. Landscapes and still life's seem to capture a mysterious perspective of life beyond the photograph that clearly owes more to the impressionists than to computer science. Deb had limited professional training and calls herself a self-taught artist. ARTISTS STATEMENT From textiles to photography, my work is intentionally infused with a sense of the mystical or dreamlike state. While not always symbolic in content, I focus on personal themes and escapes from the day to day. Stylistically, my landscapes are imaginative, playful and introspective. In my other digital photography series, Through the Looking Glass, I love to create a sense of magic where viewers often see different inter-dimensional layers of meaning and emotional impressionism. Through my perspective of fire, earth, air and water elements, I attempt to transcend the viewers established thinking and take him or her on an altered, graphic, interdimensional journey through the physical and metaphysical realms of our earths surface to redefine our view of ourselves and the world around us. My influences and inspirations are from Monet, Pissarro, Van Gogh, Wilber and Senska. |
